Crane Rail End Stops for Safe Crane Operation
The crane stops (also called crane end stop or crane bumper stop) protects personnel and equipment by preventing cranes from running off the rail. We mount stops at both ends of the crane runway. When a trolley or bridge reaches the end, the stop absorbs the impact and keeps the crane on track.
Crane stops are a safety device, not a substitute for crane brakes. Use them to add a final layer of protection for gantry cranes, overhead cranes, jibs, and temporary runway setups.

Cranes carry large mass and can travel at high speed. If brakes fail or the operator misjudges a move, the kinetic energy can cause a derailment or structural damage. A correctly designed crane end stop controls that impact and prevents catastrophic outcomes. Install them on both sides of the runway and pair them with buffers so both ends contact simultaneously.
How it works
The crane stop operates through three simple steps that keep the crane under control:
- The stop is fixed to the beam corbel or end plate. Its height matches the bumper level so both surfaces meet squarely under load.
- The stop aligns with the rail and the motion direction of the trolley or bridge. This alignment ensures a straight, even contact instead of side loading.
- When the crane reaches the limit, the bumper touches the stop and the structure absorbs the hit. The buffer element takes part of the energy, and the steel body carries the remaining force into the beam.

Crane Stops Model Selection (GCD Series)
Besides custom-made crane stops, we also manufacture a full range of GCD-series models from the 23G525 industrial standard. These models cover single-girder, double-girder, and heavy-duty cranes up to 250 tons.
Customers can select a model directly from the table, or send us the crane data for verification.
If the project exceeds the impact force or height limits shown, we will redesign the stop with reinforced plates, upgraded steel grade, or a larger energy-absorbing buffer.
