Steel Soleplates

Steel soleplates are installed beneath crane rail systems to provide a stable and level foundation. Made from high-strength steel, they create a solid, even contact surface for crane rails, playing a key role in cushioning, vibration reduction, and load distribution. By using soleplates, the pressure exerted by the crane on the ground is effectively dispersed, preventing excessive localized stress.

Steel soleplates have two main types: continuous and individual plates, each serving specific installation needs.

Types of Rail Pads

Continuous Steel Soleplates

Continuous soleplates are baseplates laid according to the track length, providing uninterrupted, continuous support for the track, making them especially suitable for heavy-duty crane systems. Continuous steel soleplates offer uniform support, helping to better absorb and distribute the crane loads. In practical applications, soleplates can be spliced or customized according to the specific track length.

Individual Steel Soleplates

Individual Soleplates are laid in a scattered pattern along the track base. Unlike continuous steel soleplates, they are more suitable for lighter and medium-duty cranes or workshop transport tracks, where support precision requirements are relatively lower. Due to their smaller size and lighter weight, individual soleplates are easy to install, cost-effective, and require minimal maintenance. If damaged, they can be easily removed and replaced.Corrosion protection can be applied as needed for harsh environments.

Soleplate Material and Production

Soleplates are commonly made from materials such as Q235, Q345, and other mild carbon structural steels or low-alloy high-strength steels. Q235 steel offers good toughness and weldability, making it suitable for general load-bearing applications. Q345 steel, with its higher strength, is used for steel soleplates designed to bear larger loads.

The surface flatness of the soleplate directly affects its contact with the track. The width of the soleplate should be determined based on the minimum installation width of the track, and its flatness is crucial for the overall stability of the rail system.

During the design and manufacturing process, we customize the best length of the soleplate based on the specific track model. Steel soleplates can be used in their self color or treated with galvanization or paint for corrosion protection. In wet or corrosive environments, corrosion-treated soleplates offer extended service life and ensure long-term, stable performance. To maintain the integrity of the galvanized coating, any components such as rail clip bases must be welded onto the soleplate surface before galvanization.
